Tennis Terriers Achieve Success
Monday 21st June 2010
Balby Carr went to the recent Doncaster Schools championships in very good form after plenty of court and practice time. On arrival at the plush Doncaster Tennis club the Balby lads could not believe the quality of the courts, after learning their trade on the infamous MUGA.
Rhys Lilley and Lewis Towler (both pictured) were simply outstanding on the day and won their first 3 matches. They only conceeded 3 games out of their first 3 sets where they comfortably beat Danum, Campsmount and Trinity. This lead them onto the final where they we closely defeated by Outwood, although by getting to the final meant they qualified for the South Yorkshire Finals where they will represent Doncaster. An amazing achievement seeing as they only started out on Balby Academy of Sport's Tennis Revolution just after Easter. As Rhys Lilley said, 'Tennis is mint in it'
