Balby Carr's Gifted & Talented Loughborough Uni Experience
Monday 28th June 2010
Balby Carr gifted & talented students were given a great opportunity to visit Loughborough University, which has been awarded best students experience university in the country for the forth year running. Students went on a guided tour of the university by one of the pupils that had studied there for 3 years, they also got the opportunity to watch some of the England cricket team practice and everyone was very excited about it.
They then went on to do activities in the afternoon, including having a sports psychology lesson with Notts County sports psychologist, which the students really enjoyed. They also participated in a session of rock-it-ball against other students from the gifted & talented programmed from different school, in which Balby comfortably took victory. Using some of the latest fitness apparatus the students took part in a number of different fitness tests, which they all really enjoyed.
Also one of our students Casey Daniels, took part in a jump off, with one of the other ‘male’ students from the other schools, they both did 3 jumps, and added the total score of the results up. It was an intense moment for the girls, as Casey Daniels jumped a whopping 50.3cm and took home victory for the girls!
Overall the students enjoyed the day; it was exciting and fun for all and just an all round great experience. It tired most students out, as it was a very long day and they needed to regain energy by sleeping on the coach.
