Balby pupils are outstanding at Doncaster Athletics Competition
Friday 9th July 2010

The Doncaster Schools Athletics Competition was held at Keepmoat Stadium on Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th June this year, and once again our students showed sheer hardwork and determination at the event to produce some fantastic performances.

The students involved all performed to the best of their ability, breaking personal bests and some even outshining other pupils from neighboring Doncaster Schools. The first day of the competition was for the year 7 and 8 students, and the Athletics Team representing school was first class. Excellent performances from Matthew Moore-Taylor who came 2nd in Shot Putt, Amber Hunter’s great effort throwing a personal best in Javelin of 12.00m and Blake May’s outstanding performance in High Jump of 1.18m gaining a well deserved second place.

The second day of Athletics was down to the year 9 and 10 teams that produced more outstanding performances against the athletes from other schools as well as aiming to beat their own personal bests. Amongst some of the superb performances were Frank Sekyere winning the 200m in a time of 24.88secs, Liam Chadwick taking 1st place in Triple Jump with a distance of 11.69m and yet another 1st place in the 100m sprint in a time of 11.09secs.

Overall, our students demonstrated outstanding performances both in their Athletics events and in their behaviour. Well done to all those students who represented school, you were a credit to yourself and Balby Carr. Superb!!
