London 2012 Hits Balby Carr
Wednesday 21st July 2010
On Monday 12th July Balby Carr students; Adam Marsden, Shellie Oates, Laura Jenkins, Liam Morris and Wesley Thompson visited a national 2012 Olympic student volunteering event. The event was held at Royds Hall high school, Huddersfield in which they participated in a touring event looking to inspire, engage and educate the future voluntary ambassadors of England about the Olympics and Paralympics.
Special guest to the event, Craig Heap – former captain of the GB gymnastic squad, was a fantastic hit, accounting his journey through sport from the bottom of the un-motivated pile to achieving his ultimate dream of representing his nation and inspiring the future.
Part of the event required students to plan something for their schools to create a legacy of 2012 for the future. The group, inspired by Liam Morris, generated an amazing idea which will hopefully develop over the coming year…watch this space! The Balby Carr 2012 Olympic Legacy!
